GENERAL CONDITIONS OF ENTRY

Adherence to Regulations & Rules – All competitors are required to comply with both the State Fishing Regulations as set out in the current Victorian Recreational Fishing Guide published by the DPI, and with the Yaringa Fishing Club Rules at all times. Members are expected to display the Club values and ethics and to act in an honest and ethical manner at all times.

Annual Competitions – All Competitions conclude at the end of the last competition in June. Points accrued after this date qualify for the next season points table.

Competition Cancellation – The Club executive, at their discretion, reserve the right to cancel or defer any scheduled fishing competition or event.

Disputes – Fishing competition judging will be under the control of the Club Fishing Officer and their appointed deputy. Any disputes or objections concerning a competition or bag weight must be lodged within 15 minutes of close of weigh-in on the day concerned. Disputed fish will be held by the recorder. A disputes committee of no less than 3, (but preferably 5) Committee members will then be formed to adjudicate. The dispute shall be finalised and the result communicated to the member. The decision of the Committee is final and no correspondence will be entered into.

Eligibility to Compete ALL financial members (ExComm, Committee & Sub Committee’s included) can accumulate points and are eligible for awards.

Fish Presentation – All Fish are to be presented WHOLE OR GUTTED for weigh-in . Fish that have been frozen or have been severely damaged are ineligible.

Forfeiture of Points A member found to be in breach of any Club rule or DPI / VRFG regulation may result in that member forfeiting all points accumulated to that date.

Indemnity – All competitors participating in any competition organised by the Yaringa Fishing Club Inc. do so entirely at their own risk. The Yaringa Fishing Club Inc. will not be held responsible in any way whatsoever for any loss or damage sustained by any competitor to his or her person or effects. It is each members OWN responsibility to determine whether to participate in an event or not. Weather warnings, forecasts, personal safety and general boating conditions should be taken into account when making this decision.

Marine Parks Members are NOT allowed to fish in Marine Parks as defined and published by the DPI

Points Accrual – For Weekly Competitions & Special Events, ONLY the designated species can qualify for points. For the Annual Heaviest Fish Competition, ALL LEGAL species including Squid can qualify for points. NOTE: Port Jackson Shark, Carpet Bag Shark, Eels, Gunards, all Rays, Octopus & Cuttlefish are EXCLUDED from ALL Competitions.

Rubbish Removal – Competitors are required to remove all rubbish and place in the appropriate bin provided by the Yaringa Marina (adjacent to fish cleaning area on hard-stand).

Occurs during EVERY day of the year

Open to ALL Legal Species (refer Target Species for exclusions)

DOUBLE Points get allocated to your competition points tally

Fishing between 4.01PM Friday and 3.00PM Saturday

Limited to the designated Target Species of the Special Event

Weigh-in Location is ONLY at Yaringa Boat Sales & Chandlery between 2.00pm and 3.00pm

FISHING BOUNDARIES

For all competitions, the PORT LIMITS, as defined by Parks Victoria, are recognised as the fishing boundaries.

Western Entrance

Line between West Head (Western Mainland) to The Nobbies ( Phillip Island)

Eastern Entrance

Line between Cape Woolamai ( Phillip Island) to Punch Bowl (Eastern Mainland)

There is to be NO FISHING inside Marine Park Boundaries as defined by the DPI

Members may target ANY or ALL of the following species during EACH Weekly Competition

SIZE RESTRICTIONS & BAG LIMITS

WEEKLY COMPETITIONS

Single Fish – Members are eligible to measure and/or weigh-in ONE (1) of EACH of the Target Species that will qualify for points during EACH Competition week.

Multiple Weigh-in – You can weigh-in multiple times each week, but once you have weighed-in a target species, you cannot weigh-in another of the same species in that week.

ANNUAL HEAVIEST FISH COMPETITION

Size of Fish – Members are only eligible to weigh-in a fish that is GREATER IN WEIGHT than a fish of the same species that ANY MEMBER has previously weighed in during the season.

SPECIAL EVENT COMPETITIONS

Single Fish – Members are eligible to measure and/or weigh-in ONE (1) of the designated Target Species.

Heaviest Bag – Members are eligible to weigh-in a bag of the designated Target Species in accordance with the Club imposed bag limits noted below.

Bag Limits - The Club has adopted a self-imposed Bag Limit of HALF (1/2) the Legal Bag Limit as defined by the DPI in the current Vic. Recreational Fishing Guide for these events.

In the case of Snapper where regulations state a limit of 10 fish with no more than 3 fish over 40cms and 7 under 40cms, within the Club Imposed Limit of 5, you are allowed up to 2 fish over 40cms, and 3 under 40cms, OR a total of 5 under 40cms.

WEIGH-IN LOCATIONS & TIMES

Primary Location - Yaringa Boat Sales & Chandlery

Weigh-in time for WEEKLY & ANNUAL HEAVIEST FISH COMPETITIONS is between 9.30am - 4.30pm.

Note: No weigh-in at Yaringa Chandlery on Tuesdays – Use Alternative Location

Weigh-in for Special Events is ONLY at Yaringa Boat Sales between 2.00pm - 3.00pm

Alternative Location Tackleworld Cranbourne or other recognised Fishing Tackle Store

Weigh-in time for WEEKLY & ANNUAL HEAVIEST FISH COMPETITIONS - Check Store Opening Hours

YFC Official Catch Record (copies available on   club website or at Yaringa Chandlery) to be completed, stamped & signed by the Tackle Store, and handed in at the Yaringa Chandlery for the catch to be recorded and points added to the Members Points Tally.

ANNUAL HEAVIEST FISH COMPETITION – At the conclusion of the competition, 7 points will be awarded to the member who weighs in the Heaviest Fish of EACH Species caught.

HEAVIEST BAG - A Full or Part point will be awarded for each Kilogram or part Kilogram of the total bag weight.

SPECIAL EVENTS - Members gets DOUBLE points for BOTH Single Fish & Heaviest Bag.

MEETING & SPECIAL EVENT ATTENDANCE POINTS - Each member who signs the attendance register at a Club Meeting or participates in a scheduled Special Event will be awarded 1 POINT for their attendance at the meeting/event.
