Adherence to Regulations & Rules
– All competitors are required
to comply with both the State Fishing Regulations as set out in the current Victorian
Recreational Fishing Guide published by the DPI, and with the Yaringa Fishing
Club Rules at all times. Members are expected to display the Club values and
ethics and to act in an honest and ethical manner at all times.
Annual Competitions –
All Competitions conclude at the end of the last
competition in June. Points accrued after this date qualify for the next
season points table.
Competition Cancellation
– The Club executive, at their discretion, reserve the
right to cancel or defer any scheduled fishing competition or event.
Disputes –
Fishing
competition judging will be under the control of the Club Fishing Officer and
their appointed deputy. Any disputes or objections concerning a competition
or bag weight must be lodged within 15 minutes of close of weigh-in on the
day concerned. Disputed fish will be held by the recorder. A disputes
committee of no less than 3,
(but
preferably 5) Committee members will then be formed to adjudicate. The
dispute shall be finalised and the result communicated to the member. The
decision of the Committee is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
Eligibility to Compete
–
ALL financial members
(ExComm, Committee & Sub Committee’s
included) can accumulate points and are eligible for awards.
Fish Presentation –
All Fish are to be presented
WHOLE OR GUTTED for weigh-in
.
Fish that have been
frozen or have been severely damaged are ineligible.
Forfeiture of Points
–
A member found to be in breach of
any Club rule or DPI / VRFG regulation may result in that member forfeiting
all points accumulated to that date.
Indemnity –
All competitors participating in any competition organised by the
Yaringa Fishing Club Inc. do so entirely at their own risk. The Yaringa
Fishing Club Inc. will not be held responsible in any way whatsoever for any
loss or damage sustained by any competitor to his or her person or effects.
It is each members OWN responsibility to determine whether to participate in
an event or not. Weather warnings, forecasts, personal safety and general boating
conditions should be taken into account when making this decision.
Marine Parks
–
Members are
NOT allowed to fish in Marine Parks as defined and published by the
DPI
Points Accrual
– For Weekly Competitions & Special Events,
ONLY the designated species can qualify for points. For the Annual
Heaviest Fish Competition,
ALL LEGAL
species including Squid can qualify for points. NOTE: Port Jackson Shark,
Carpet Bag Shark, Eels, Gunards, all Rays, Octopus & Cuttlefish are
EXCLUDED from
ALL Competitions.
Rubbish Removal
– Competitors are required to remove all rubbish and place in the
appropriate bin provided by the Yaringa Marina
(adjacent to fish cleaning area on hard-stand).
