Established during the 1990s, the Yaringa Fishing Club Inc. is a community based amateur fishing Club which represents all levels of anglers. The club is primarily focused on traditional family fishing activities and values.
Our home base is at the YaringaMarina & BoatHarbour, a privately owned professional marine boating complex situated along the northwest tip of
WesternportBay. The Clubs Executive Committee work in conjunction with the Yaringa Marina and affiliated bodies to promote the Clubs goals and harness angling behaviours. In essence, we strive to;
embrace a minimum standard of boating safety principals;
conduct recreational fishing activities centred on family orientated and community input;
minimise the potential of environmental impact to maximise sustainable development; and
influence todays practices to enable angling for the enjoyment of future generations.
Naturally, our members include families, adults and juniors that are all actively involved in seasonal angling championship competitions and social events. The season concludes in June with the annual trophy and prize award presentation dinner. The Clubs primary goals encompass benefits for members to share the shear excitement and gain long-term value that is attained from;
planned fishing competitions, trips & social events;
engaging sponsors
sharing of knowledge around common interests & angling advice from associated expert groups;
delight members with meaningful outcomes and the development of external recognition as a Club of obvious choice; and
to mentor members in facilitating the Executive Committee succession plans.
The Yaringa Marina itself has excellent facilities and manages in excess of 600 varied marine vessels through individual principal agreements. Options to either permanently moor vessels or to hold them in secure dry storage facilities are available. The
Marina complex has a great friendly atmosphere and also has an excellent range of local business networks for supply of high quality products and services all available on-site including;
fishing tackle, bait consumables & fuels;
food, drinks, ice, plus a licensed restaurant boasting exquisite menus;
most boating components - mechanical & electrical repairs or installations;
qualified on hand boat maintenance and repair service specialists;
marine trimming, yacht fittings & rigging, sails & fibreglass to complete fit outs, and
a spacious slipway and safe work bays for minor or major overhauls or hull antifouling.
Access to Westernport Bay is via the Yaringa harbour channel which leads directly into Watsons inlet, providing members with ready access to some of the most splendid fishing grounds in the region. The Club fishing events are heavily contested, and draw on the vast species of fish which inhabit all regions of Westernport. And for the more daring, the waters of
Bass Strait are easily accessible for non event interests.
As a family orientated fishing Club, our culture encourages all anglers with emphasis on juniors to challenge and champion angling skills, and in particular to gain value from a lifelong aquatic sporting interest and pleasure.
We welcome beginners, novices, family groups and all competitive individuals to join our Club, and we look forward to meeting any potential new members. Club meetings are held on the second Tuesday of each alternate month. Please refer to the website for details.
